Titans winning run comes to an end
The Manchester Titans lost to the London Olympians 35-13 in the BAFACL Division 2 National Final on Sunday 19th September at Sixways Stadium in Worcester.
In the end the Titans epic run to the finals ran out of steam in the 2nd half despite going into half-time with the scores tied at 7-7. The Titans Defense held the prolific London Offense to just 1 score in the first half, thanks in part to Stewart Hay’s Interception.
Ryan Farrell’s TD run converted by Dave Barnett tied the game in the 2nd quarter but the Olympians went back ahead through two TDs in the 3rd Quarter. But in the 4th Quarter, QB Alan Mead, under pressure most of the day from the Olympians pass rush, managed to buy some time and fired a 40 yard pass downfield to Adam Simms which set up Tim Barton’s TD run from 2 yards out to bring to Titans within 21-13 but the London team added 2 more scores late on to seal the Championship.
General Manager Tony McCulloch said after the game:
“One of the proudest moments of my live was watching the Titans take the field today and they didn’t let anybody down by their performance. Everyone that spoke to me after the game, praised the Titans commitment. This season’s success was a team effort and I include everyone that has contributed to the club in some way, players, coaches, management and support staff.”

simmo Says:
Congratulations to everyone associated with this team. I am gutted at having missed the 3 biggest games we ever played but well done for putting Manchester back on the American Football map.
Who would have thought back in 2003, with Chris & his 20 odd players, & one man & his dog watching that we would not only be on the same field as the London Olympians but run them close as well.
Looking forward to next season already.
Again well done.
